Homer claimed that Mount Olympus was "not shaken by winds nor ever wet with rain, nor did snow fall upon it, but the air was outspread clear and cloudless and over it hovered a radiant whiteness." From Greece's highest peak (2917m), and first national park, it's easy to understand why the ancient Greeks believed Mount Olympus was in heaven, not on earth.
