Peloponnese Nemea

In Greek mythology Heracles overcame the Nemean Lion of the Goddess Hera - the Nemean Games took place here. The region was first put on the map for its winemaking by Homer, who called it Ampeloessa - “full of vines.” Today the appellation of Nemea is the most important red wine AOC of southern Greece. The indigenous Greek Agiorgitiko grape produces wines famous for their deep red colour with violet and blue hues, complex aroma and long, velvety palate.
